Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Guillermo Chauvet in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alvarez Déziel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Stephen Isenegger might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alvarez Déziel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stephen Isenegger ran back to his position shaking his head. 18 minutes into the match, Stephen Isenegger notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Riedli HC's Alvarez Déziel. Alvarez Déziel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stephen Isenegger in the 21st minute of play forced Riedli HC's goalkeeper Alvarez Déziel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lamberto Dürig made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Claude Abendroth sent off a good shot on target. When Nguyen Iosif came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Hauenstein fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyen Iosif couldn't finish the play. Alvarez Déziel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stephen Isenegger, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After 44 minutes of play, Hauenstein's Guillermo Chauvet made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alvarez Déziel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Guillermo Chauvet stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jochen Foerster during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A wasted opportunity for Hauenstein. 58 minutes into the game, Herman Beaudry was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stephen Isenegger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Alvarez Déziel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
