Spectators: 8449 (Terracing: 6421, Seating: 1968, VIP seats: 60) After having played for 4 minutes, Yusuf Ziya Cerit managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Lugano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yusuf Ziya Cerit was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 6th minute Fred Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cláudio Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yusuf Ziya Cerit, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Cláudio Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Klas Tingelholm in the 8th minute of play. In the 10thth minute of the game Fred Lara who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Berne Wanderers FC's Cláudio Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 11 minutes into the match, Berne Wanderers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Yusuf Ziya Cerit came free, but Cláudio Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cláudio Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Klas Tingelholm, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Klas Tingelholm in the 15th minute of play forced Berne Wanderers FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Yusuf Ziya Cerit got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 18th minute, Klas Tingelholm left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Lugano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 21 minutes into the match, Berne Wanderers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Klas Tingelholm came free, but Cláudio Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jack Saunders scored 0-2 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cláudio Taffarel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 24th minute Klas Tingelholm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Berne Wanderers FC's Cláudio Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Saunders in the 27th minute of play. 30 minutes into the game, FC Lugano's Klas Tingelholm nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cláudio Taffarel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. In the 33rd match minute, FC Lugano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jack Saunders to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Berne Wanderers FC's Andy Held got a free kick in the 34th minute. After 35 minutes of play, FC Lugano's Jack Saunders made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cláudio Taffarel was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Lara in the 44th minute of play forced Berne Wanderers FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute, Klas Tingelholm left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Lugano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-7. After the first half FC Lugano were leading 0-7. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

FC Lugano's Nereo Precioso was substituted for Igor Linares. The wind increased when Lamberto Riedweg made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Yusuf Ziya Cerit recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cláudio Taffarel. Yusuf Ziya Cerit showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-8. The FC Lugano fans' excitement grew in the 55th match minute when FC Lugano's Jack Saunders looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-9 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Cláudio Taffarel came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by FC Lugano's Wincenty Kochowski. But to his dismay, Wincenty Kochowski quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-10. Cláudio Taffarel was a little too slow when Fred Lara got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 64th minute. The score was now 0-11. In the 68th play minute Jack Saunders came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Cláudio Taffarel. 0-12. In the 71st minute, Jakub Waselenczuk reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cláudio Taffarel. The goal made the score 0-13. If Wincenty Kochowski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute, Fernando Erni hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zhao Le Sen did an outstanding performance 80 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 0-14 to the right of an irritated Cláudio Taffarel in the goal. In the 84th minute Fred Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cláudio Taffarel was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Fred Lara capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fred Lara really showed his touch with that goal: 0-15. When FC Lugano's Fred Lara in the 88th minute got a chance for a shot 88th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Berne Wanderers FC's goalie prevented a goal. Cláudio Taffarel came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Lugano's Jack Saunders. But to his dismay, Jack Saunders quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-16. Cláudio Taffarel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jack Saunders went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-17 was the resulting score. In the 96th minute, Yusuf Ziya Cerit reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cláudio Taffarel. The goal made the score 0-18. FC Lugano played a much better game than Berne Wanderers FC and deserved their victory. The Berne Wanderers FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
