Through an outstanding action, after 24 minutes, Cláudio Taffarel successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 26th match minute, Lugano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blair Yeats to maneuver through the defense. Cláudio Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Guimarães, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. Berne Wanderers FC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Lugano's much stronger midfield.
