Hamilton Häfeli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reiner Seitz in the 27th minute of the match. Chancy were furious when Benjamin Forcucci was red carded, 30 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 29th minute of the game. One of Chancy:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cuba Libre Basel:s goal. The supporters of Chancy booed when Cuba Libre Basel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduardo Boehm didn't get a good kick on the ball. 41 minutes into the match, Chancy's goal looked a bit too open when Alfonso De Grandis came free, but Hamilton Häfeli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hamilton Häfeli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfonso De Grandis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes into the match, Alfonso De Grandis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hamilton Häfeli. Chancy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfonso De Grandis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The Chancy players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Cuba Libre Basel were winning 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alfonso De Grandis was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Cuba Libre Basel's Reiner Seitz ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hamilton Häfeli. Hamilton Häfeli yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Alfonso De Grandis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hamilton Häfeli came out and tried to block the shot, but Alfonso De Grandis slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 66th minute. Reiner Seitz hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Chancy's Hamilton Häfeli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Chancy from getting a goal against them. In the 74th minute, Cuba Libre Basel's Alfonso De Grandis ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hamilton Häfeli. Hamilton Häfeli yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. Hamilton Häfeli made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Reiner Seitz sent off a good shot on target. In the 83rd minute, Reiner Seitz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hamilton Häfeli was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-8. In the 87th match minute, Chancy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alphonse Durrer to maneuver through the defense. Through an outstanding action, after 97 minutes, Hamilton Häfeli successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The Chancy fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Cuba Libre Basel were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
