Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Darius Eberhart took the kick off in the first half of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brian Wabe in the 3rd minute of play forced Bottens's goalkeeper Arndt Tittone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brian Wabe in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arndt Tittone saved Bottens from getting behind. Francesco Babst recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Servatius Böni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darius Eberhart in the 11th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Darius Eberhart in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Servatius Böni prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Arndt Tittone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lasse Wunderlin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Karim Krauer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arndt Tittone having to interfere. The referee gave FC Basel a penalty, 26 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jonas Banda, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Bottens's Arndt Tittone. 1-1. After having played for 31 minutes, Lasse Wunderlin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Basel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lasse Wunderlin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Karim Krauer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elijah Duplanty charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elijah Duplanty the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 34th match minute, Bottens was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elijah Duplanty to maneuver through the defense. FC Basel's Brian Wabe suffered a torn muscle in his foot after 39 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After a rather tough play, Bottens's Elijah Duplanty got a free kick in the 41st minute. 42 minutes into the match, Bottens's goalkeeper Arndt Tittone had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karim Krauer. Bottens's Francesco Babst got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of FC Basel booed when Bottens was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulric Laforge didn't get a good kick on the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Bottens's goalkeeper Arndt Tittone had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karim Krauer. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Basel's goalkeeper Servatius Böni, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 54th minute of the match Jonas Banda sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arndt Tittone skillfully saved the ball. Servatius Böni made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francesco Babst in the 59th minute. Karim Krauer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arndt Tittone having to interfere. In the 90th minute, Francesco Babst fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
