When Dario Ehrler fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Delémont EC's protests and gave Dario Ehrler a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th minute, Dario Ehrler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marvin Neuenschwander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lasse Wunderlin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Delémont EC's Olympio Helbling got a free kick in the 9th minute. Jonas Banda scored 0-1 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marvin Neuenschwander, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Franklin Winiker took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marvin Neuenschwander. Marvin Neuenschwander dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karim Krauer in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marvin Neuenschwander saved Delémont EC from getting behind. A hard shot 21 in the game by Fabrizio Ambrogioni from a close distance when the talented Servatius Böni managed to make a qualified save. FC Basel's players were relieved. Delémont EC's Marvin Neuenschwander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brian Wabe in the 22nd minute of play. Marvin Neuenschwander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lasse Wunderlin in the 24th minute of the match. In the 24th minute, Stephen Rüegg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Fabrizio Ambrogioni kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Servatius Böni. That made the score 1-2 in the 27 minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Benedict Bohm hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Servatius Böni managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Delémont EC's Fabrizio Ambrogioni fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some careless play in the Delémont EC defense, Lasse Wunderlin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marvin Neuenschwander. The Delémont EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marvin Neuenschwander should have stopped the shot. 42 minutes into the match, Delémont EC's goal looked a bit too open when Franklin Winiker came free, but Marvin Neuenschwander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Delémont EC's Marvin Neuenschwander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lasse Wunderlin in the 43rd minute of play. Marvin Neuenschwander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lasse Wunderlin, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lasse Wunderlin in the 47th minute of play forced Delémont EC's goalkeeper Marvin Neuenschwander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lasse Wunderlin made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabrizio Ambrogioni in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Servatius Böni prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Brian Wabe hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the match, Franklin Winiker dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Marvin Neuenschwander, 1-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roberto Trolla in the 76th minute of play forced FC Basel's goalkeeper Servatius Böni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Delémont EC's Marvin Neuenschwander got control of the ball when Franklin Winiker tried to sneak it across the goal line. The nice shot from Franklin Winiker in the 79thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Marvin Neuenschwander had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lasse Wunderlin in the 83rd minute of play forced Delémont EC's goalkeeper Marvin Neuenschwander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Delémont EC's Marvin Neuenschwander got control of the ball when Karim Krauer tried to sneak it across the goal line. FC Basel played a much better game than Delémont EC and deserved their victory. The Delémont EC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
