The supporters of FC Basel booed when Imperial Soldiers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kevin Dubach didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Servatius Böni prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ivan Emmenegger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karim Krauer in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Jasper Duplanty got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Servatius Böni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jasper Duplanty, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Frankie Besse struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Servatius Böni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Imperial Soldiers. When Jasper Duplanty came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Imperial Soldiers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jasper Duplanty couldn't finish the play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Imperial Soldiers's defense didn't have a chance, in the 51st minute, when Karim Krauer scored to the left of an out of position Ivan Emmenegger, making the score, 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Jasper Duplanty managed to get in a good position for a shot. Imperial Soldiers's supporters rose to their feet, but Jasper Duplanty was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Servatius Böni breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, FC Basel's Karim Krauer got a free kick in the 59th minute. Servatius Böni stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Frankie Besse's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Servatius Böni took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jokim Muscio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 77 played minutes, Imperial Soldiers's Louis Joho shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Servatius Böni came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Imperial Soldiers reached it. Lasse Wunderlin hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frankie Besse in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Servatius Böni saved FC Basel from getting behind. 82 minutes into the match, FC Basel's goal looked a bit too open when Jasper Duplanty came free, but Servatius Böni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 83 played minutes FC Basel got a freekick which was hit by Douglas Garnier. Frankie Besse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jasper Duplanty fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Servatius Böni having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, Imperial Soldiers's goalkeeper Ivan Emmenegger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karim Krauer. 91 minutes into the match, Imperial Soldiers's goal looked a bit too open when Brian Wabe came free, but Ivan Emmenegger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
