In the 18th minute Jean Vieira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariano Andujar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Miroslav Gehrig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mariano Andujar having to interfere. Miroslav Gehrig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kim Van den Haute sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the match, ARAPONGAS's goalkeeper Americo Fiz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kim Van den Haute. In the 37th minute Jean Vieira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mariano Andujar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kim Van den Haute got free with Americo Fiz in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mariano Andujar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mike Robert in the 42nd minute of the match. After 44 minutes NEWELLS SWISS BOYS's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Kann who took care of the corner kick. ARAPONGAS were furious when Henry Hoch was red carded, 49 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 48th minute of the game. One of ARAPONGAS:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of NEWELLS SWISS BOYS:s goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Kim Van den Haute made the kick off in the second half. When Niels Eglin came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the ARAPONGAS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Niels Eglin couldn't finish the play. Americo Fiz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steve Kobel in the 61st minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Miroslav Gehrig during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mariano Andujar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jean Vieira, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. The corner ended in Hugo Almeida almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but NEWELLS SWISS BOYS's Mariano Andujar did a great save.
