Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dominik Steenbecks in the 2nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angelo Baboeuf prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Lierde getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Kenney Ketelers hit a great ball. Dries De Loose went to the wrong direction when Chris-George Carpenter was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Refael Van Dongel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dries De Loose having to interfere. A collision led to Ciney getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Octaaf Ackermans hit a great ball. Ciney's Dries De Loose played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pierre-Paul De Meulder in the 21st minute of play. Angelo Baboeuf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominik Steenbecks in the 22nd minute of play. Robbe Petermans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Baboeuf having to interfere. Dominik Steenbecks took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Angelo Baboeuf. Angelo Baboeuf dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. When Jeoffrey Henskens fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lierde's protests and gave Jeoffrey Henskens a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 29th minute of the game. One of Lierde:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ciney:s goal. Yoeri Susters walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Refael Van Dongel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lierde's supporters rose to their feet, but Refael Van Dongel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dries De Loose breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Ciney's Dries De Loose got control of the ball when Refael Van Dongel tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 38th minute, Pierre-Paul De Meulder got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dries De Loose took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pierre-Paul De Meulder, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Dominik Steenbecks's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Angelo Baboeuf was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Pierre-Paul De Meulder kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dries De Loose. That made the score 1-1 in the 49 minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Dominik Steenbecks made the kick off in the second half. Ciney's Dries De Loose played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Refael Van Dongel in the 55th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pierre-Paul De Meulder in the 56th minute of play forced Ciney's goalkeeper Dries De Loose to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dries De Loose didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Refael Van Dongel went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After 65 played minutes Lierde got a freekick which was hit by Gery Vanden Broucke. Yoeri Susters, 66 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Ciney's Gustave Roscams pulled a muscle in his leg after 67 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Kenney Ketelers charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kenney Ketelers the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 68th match minute, Lierde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kenney Ketelers to maneuver through the defense. Robbe Petermans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Baboeuf having to interfere. If Refael Van Dongel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dries De Loose showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Refael Van Dongel in the 77th minute of the match. Ricky Bernaerts struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Angelo Baboeuf didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ciney. The audience was convinced that Pierre-Paul De Meulder's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dries De Loose was relentless in the 88th minute of the game. If Refael Van Dongel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lierde's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
