After a rather tough play, Lierde's Chris-George Carpenter got a free kick in the 24th minute. After a defensive mix-up in KB Les Mauves FC's zone, Refael Van Dongel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rajmond De Graef came out of the goal and Refael Van Dongel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ivo van der Eycken fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Chris-George Carpenter during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When the referee blew the final whistle, KB Les Mauves FC could leave the field as winners, despite Lierde having more of the ball for most of the match.
