Joppe Cesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kristiaan Sommers having to interfere. In the 5th minute, Nicky Weijgaerts reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Kristiaan Sommers. The goal made the score 1-0. When Meeuwen-Gruitrode 's Mike Van Eeckhout in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wils FC's goalie prevented a goal. Jasper Van Meerbek hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nicky Weijgaerts during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Wils FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Nicky Weijgaerts hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Wils FC's Jozef Raaymakers got a free kick in the 27th minute. 27 minutes into the match, Meeuwen-Gruitrode 's Henry Daniels broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 30th minute Miguel Serneels shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernard Vanborre saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicky Weijgaerts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Kristiaan Sommers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Jordy Vandendriessche kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Kristiaan Sommers. That made the score 2-0 in the 46 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Miguel Serneels to strike the kick off in the second half. Nicky Weijgaerts recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 56th minute, Jos Milters hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joppe Cesters's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kristiaan Sommers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Meeuwen-Gruitrode 's Joe Hally got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kristiaan Sommers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicky Weijgaerts in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute, Joppe Cesters got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joppe Cesters in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kristiaan Sommers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Meeuwen-Gruitrode 's Kristiaan Sommers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joppe Cesters in the 74th minute of play. Jos Milters got his second yellow card in the match during the 81st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Jos Milters kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Nestor Reijckmans was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 82nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Joppe Cesters sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nicky Weijgaerts came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Wils FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicky Weijgaerts couldn't finish the play. There was no doubt that Wils FC were the better team. Wils FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
