Spectators: 6726 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Billie Van Gysel started the match with the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Chris-George Van Huyck in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stein Van der Voert saved Cerfontaine from getting behind. When Grimbergen's Chris-George Van Huyck in the 5th minute got a chance for a shot 5th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cerfontaine's goalie prevented a goal. In the 8th minute, Jeroen Huygens left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Grimbergen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Billie Van Gysel struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. When Chris-George Van Huyck came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Grimbergen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chris-George Van Huyck couldn't finish the play. Lucien Van Der Meeren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Robby Susters tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Grimbergen's zone, Ludwig Helssens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robby Susters came out of the goal and Ludwig Helssens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Billie Van Gysel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cerfontaine's Stein Van der Voert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chris-George Van Huyck in the 34th minute of play. In the 35th minute, Carel Ramps hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stein Van der Voert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Billie Van Gysel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 43 minutes of play, Grimbergen's Chris-George Van Huyck made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Stein Van der Voert was left in no man's land by his defense there! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lucien Van Der Meeren stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Billie Van Gysel's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Stein Van der Voert firmly grabbed it by the left post. 64 minutes into the match, Cerfontaine's goal looked a bit too open when Chris-George Van Huyck came free, but Stein Van der Voert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Cerfontaine's zone, Billie Van Gysel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stein Van der Voert came out of the goal and Billie Van Gysel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 79th minute, Claude Caspers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cerfontaine's Carel Ramps couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 80th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Grimbergen. Lucien Van Der Meeren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robby Susters having to interfere. After 85 played minutes Grimbergen got a freekick which was hit by Brian Rombouts. The supporters of Cerfontaine booed when Grimbergen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joeri Clijsters didn't get a good kick on the ball. 91 minutes into the match, Grimbergen's goal looked a bit too open when Lucien Van Der Meeren came free, but Robby Susters reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
