When Lionel Matthieu came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the KVSK Mariakerke fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lionel Matthieu couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Frederic De Meur managed to get in a good position for a shot. club brugge's supporters rose to their feet, but Frederic De Meur was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The KVSK Mariakerke fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Louis-Philippe Schellekens should have stopped the shot. After 59 played minutes KVSK Mariakerke got a freekick which was hit by Georges-Philippe Hosselaer. Arnold Bollaert made an important save on a dangerous shot by Philippe-Arnaud Biesen in the 63rd minute. Yelle Algoedt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
