Ian Van den Berghe started the match with the kick off. In the 7th minute of the game, Fransesco Meersman landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. When Ian Van den Berghe fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Geraardsbergen's protests and gave Ian Van den Berghe a yellow card for diving instead. Ian Van den Berghe kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. The supporters of Geraardsbergen booed when Sint-Laureins was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernard Van Den Linden didn't get a good kick on the ball. Danny Renotte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matthew Neels in the 12th minute of the match. Jacobus Weijnandts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernard Van Den Linden, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Bernard Van Den Linden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobus Weijnandts having to interfere. Danny Renotte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ian Van den Berghe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matthew Neels's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 30thth minute, Danny Renotte skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 36th minute, Michel Meynen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 37th minute of the match Leon Biermans shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jacobus Weijnandts showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ian Van den Berghe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danny Renotte having to interfere. Bernard Van Den Linden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobus Weijnandts having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bernard Van Den Linden to make the kick off. Sint-Laureins's Bernard Van Den Linden got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernard Van Den Linden recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ian Van den Berghe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Danny Renotte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeff Vranckx kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. In the 74th minute of the match Maurice Gielens shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Danny Renotte showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Sint-Laureins getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Remco Huveneers hit a great ball. 77 minutes into the match, Geraardsbergen's Maurice Gielens broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Matthew Neels fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danny Renotte having to interfere. Maarten Kempenaerts kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Van den Berghe in the 84th minute of play forced Sint-Laureins's goalkeeper Danny Renotte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ian Van den Berghe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danny Renotte having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Mathieux Smeyers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpected shot in the 93rd minute by Bernard Van Den Linden got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 95 minutes into the match, Sint-Laureins's Bernard Van Den Linden sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jacobus Weijnandts narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sint-Laureins had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
