Spectators: 6716 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1716, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Konrad Cupial got the match started through his kick off. Jozef Vanden Broucke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xavier Goens in the 4th minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, Edwin Van Poucke notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of RFC Anderlecht's Jozef Vanden Broucke. Jozef Vanden Broucke was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 12th minute there was a penalty for Essen. Ronny Verlinden stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jozef Vanden Broucke. 2-0. After 14 played minutes Essen got a freekick which was hit by Felix Vervaet. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Essen's goalkeeper Willy Tubbackx, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 21 played minutes Essen got a freekick which was hit by Thobias De Cerpel. Edwin Van Poucke in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jozef Vanden Broucke, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 24 minutes into the game, Antoine Saelens recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jozef Vanden Broucke. Antoine Saelens showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edwin Van Poucke got free with Jozef Vanden Broucke in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gustav Switten during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 32 played minutes RFC Anderlecht got a freekick which was hit by Gustav Switten. Jozef Vanden Broucke made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Edwin Van Poucke sent off a good shot on target. In the 36th minute, Sylvain Gramet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in RFC Anderlecht's zone, Thobias De Cerpel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jozef Vanden Broucke came out of the goal and Thobias De Cerpel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Jozef Vanden Broucke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thobias De Cerpel in the 52nd minute of the match. 56 minutes into the match, RFC Anderlecht's goal looked a bit too open when Thobias De Cerpel came free, but Jozef Vanden Broucke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antoine Saelens in the 58th minute of play forced RFC Anderlecht's goalkeeper Jozef Vanden Broucke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 65 minutes into the game, Sylvain Gramet was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. RFC Anderlecht's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Essen the free kick. If Konrad Cupial had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Willy Tubbackx was a little too slow when Tytus Jerzyk got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 70th minute. The score was now 4-1. Thobias De Cerpel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jozef Vanden Broucke having to make a save. Jozef Vanden Broucke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thobias De Cerpel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antoine Saelens in the 77th minute of play forced RFC Anderlecht's goalkeeper Jozef Vanden Broucke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A well done corner resulted in Thobias De Cerpel drilling the ball in to score 5-1 behind RFC Anderlecht's goalkeeper. Essen walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
