Kent Goris was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Will Van Hemel's late challenge caught a Liefkenshoek's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Will Van Hemel helped the player get up and apologised. Will Van Hemel kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. 9 minutes into the match, Neerpelt's goal looked a bit too open when Eric Segers came free, but Kent Goris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Neerpelt's Will Van Hemel got a free kick in the 10th minute. Kent Goris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Segers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Klaus De Messemaecker recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Klaus De Messemaecker could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Harrie Geeraerts made a huge save. If Klaus De Messemaecker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Neerpelt booed when Liefkenshoek was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerrit De Groot didn't get a good kick on the ball. Harrie Geeraerts came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Neerpelt's Jacq Frederickx. But to his dismay, Jacq Frederickx quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Jacq Frederickx might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Harrie Geeraerts. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jacq Frederickx ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 32nd minute of the match, Jacq Frederickx tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Harrie Geeraerts saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Jacq Frederickx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Klaus De Messemaecker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

With a little luck, Neerpelt's Kent Goris got control of the ball when Raf Van den Gans tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Raf Van den Gans came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Liefkenshoek fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raf Van den Gans couldn't finish the play. Harrie Geeraerts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Klaus De Messemaecker, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. 71 minutes into the match, Liefkenshoek's goal looked a bit too open when Will Van Hemel came free, but Harrie Geeraerts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Klaus De Messemaecker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harrie Geeraerts having to interfere. Harrie Geeraerts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacq Frederickx in the 77th minute of the match. Neerpelt's Klaus De Messemaecker got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Harrie Geeraerts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacq Frederickx, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. If Jacq Frederickx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Neerpelt's Pierre-Olivier Timmermans got a free kick in the 86th minute. Jacq Frederickx sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mathis Verstuyft recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Neerpelt's Klaus De Messemaecker got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Neerpelt players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
