Spectators: 7394 (Terracing: 5546, Seating: 1701, VIP seats: 147) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Abel Ketelers started the match with the kick off. After 3 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC Gerda Waasland SN! The referee gave Zelzate a penalty, 5 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jozef Wuijts, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FC Gerda Waasland SN's Douglas Engelberchs. 1-0. FC Gerda Waasland SN were furious when William Reiniers was red carded, 10 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Christoff Huybrechts fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dimitris Germanos having to interfere. 15 minutes into the game, Jochen Thijs was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zelzate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Gerda Waasland SN the free kick. In the 15th match minute, Zelzate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jochen Thijs to maneuver through the defense. Douglas Engelberchs stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stig Polmach's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. In the 21st minute, Stig Polmach left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Zelzate fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Louis Huijberechts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 27th minute, Jozef Wuijts reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Douglas Engelberchs. The goal made the score 3-0. Jozef Wuijts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Douglas Engelberchs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ief Valckenaers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Douglas Engelberchs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig Polmach in the 37th minute of play. Douglas Engelberchs acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 42nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jochen Thijs. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stig Polmach made a kick off. Douglas Engelberchs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stig Polmach in the 55th minute of the match. When Louis Huijberechts fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Gerda Waasland SN's protests and gave Louis Huijberechts a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Zelzate booed when FC Gerda Waasland SN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louis Huijberechts didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jochen Thijs got his second yellow card in the match during the 58th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 61 played minutes, FC Gerda Waasland SN's Abel Ketelers shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dimitris Germanos came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Gerda Waasland SN reached it. In the 63rd match minute, Zelzate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jozef Wuijts to maneuver through the defense. Dimitris Germanos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Boris Tailleur, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Jozef Wuijts recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ief Valckenaers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ief Valckenaers in the 82nd minute of play forced FC Gerda Waasland SN's goalkeeper Douglas Engelberchs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 85 minutes into the match, Dimitry Hally notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of FC Gerda Waasland SN's Douglas Engelberchs. Douglas Engelberchs was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Zelzate walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
