Gwen Grootjans scored 1-0 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tom Uytterhaegen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Gwen Grootjans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom Uytterhaegen having to interfere. KV Knutsegem's Andries Van De Wijngaert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renaud Kempenaers in the 32nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Renaud Kempenaers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Andries Van De Wijngaert was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Renaud Kempenaers was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, KV Knutsegem's Andries Van De Wijngaert got control of the ball when Daan Frederickx tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in KV Knutsegem's zone, Renaud Kempenaers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andries Van De Wijngaert came out of the goal and Renaud Kempenaers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Terry De Vlaeminck recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tom Uytterhaegen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gwen Grootjans, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. KV Knutsegem's Andries Van De Wijngaert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renaud Kempenaers in the 83rd minute of play. Asbroek's Renaud Kempenaers got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Daan Frederickx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renaud Kempenaers in the 95th minute of play forced KV Knutsegem's goalkeeper Andries Van De Wijngaert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Asbroek booed when KV Knutsegem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Natan Meijers didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daan Frederickx sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Asbroek's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
