The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Verloreneind's Wesly Pauwels played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laurenz De Spiegeleire in the 3rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alfons De Mesemacre in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wesly Pauwels prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 20th match minute, Verloreneind was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Klaas Fierens to maneuver through the defense. Wesly Pauwels made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfons De Mesemacre in the 21st minute of play. After having played for 27 minutes, Laurenz De Spiegeleire managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Flémalle's supporters crossed their fingers, but Laurenz De Spiegeleire was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 32nd minute Laurenz De Spiegeleire shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wesly Pauwels saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flémalle's Alfons De Mesemacre got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 38 played minutes Flémalle got a freekick which was hit by Martijn Henskens. After 41 minutes Flémalle's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Brent-Jan Reynaerts who took care of the corner kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jeff Van Den Abeele in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Remi Engelberchs saved Flémalle from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Alfons De Mesemacre managed to get in a good position for a shot. Flémalle's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfons De Mesemacre was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wesly Pauwels breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Laurenz De Spiegeleire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Jeff Van Den Abeele succeeded in the game's 52nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Luuk Gielens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Remi Engelberchs having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Alfons De Mesemacre had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Wesly Pauwels. Verloreneind's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfons De Mesemacre was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 61st match minute, Verloreneind was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brent-Jan Reynaerts to maneuver through the defense. 62 minutes into the game Marnix Polspoel kicked a great long shot which passed Wesly Pauwels straight ahead into the goal, Result 1-2. One couldn't see Marnix Polspoel behind all of his teammates who surrounded to congratulate him. Wesly Pauwels didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 70th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. Remi Engelberchs showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luuk Gielens, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Laurenz De Spiegeleire received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute.
