The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mathias-Alexander Van Geel during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mathias-Alexander Van Geel hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. When Matijs Van Clijnenbreugel came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Gierle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matijs Van Clijnenbreugel couldn't finish the play. Matijs Van Clijnenbreugel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nicolaas Verheecke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johny Van Halbeeck having to interfere. Matijs Van Clijnenbreugel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Johny Van Halbeeck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Arlon fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 20th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Gierle a penalty, 21 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Nic Dierickx, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Arlon's Johny Van Halbeeck. 1-0. In the 25th minute, Bartjan Deman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joel Lauwers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrew Devriendt in the 27th minute of the match. In the 27th match minute, Gierle was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nic Dierickx to maneuver through the defense. If Andrew Devriendt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joel Lauwers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrew Devriendt in the 33rd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Gierle's goal looked a bit too open when Andrew Devriendt came free, but Joel Lauwers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34th minute, Thijs Van Gestel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bartjan Deman in the 35th minute of play forced Gierle's goalkeeper Joel Lauwers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joel Lauwers didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bartjan Deman went, in the 35th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Joel Lauwers came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Arlon's Andrew Devriendt. But to his dismay, Andrew Devriendt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matijs Van Clijnenbreugel got free with Johny Van Halbeeck in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The wind increased when Nicolaas Verheecke made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Nicolaas Verheecke cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Johny Van Halbeeck was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aime Goolen hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. An unexpected shot in the 58th minute by Bartjan Deman got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 62 minutes into the match, Gierle's goalkeeper Joel Lauwers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bartjan Deman. Nicolaas Verheecke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute Andrew Devriendt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Lauwers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arlon's Mathias-Alexander Van Geel got his second yellow card of the match in the 88th minute. The referee ordered Mathias-Alexander Van Geel off the ground. After a rather tough play, Arlon's Mathias-Alexander Van Geel got a free kick in the 89th minute. Johny Van Halbeeck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matijs Van Clijnenbreugel in the 90th minute of the match. 91 minutes into the game, Bernt Van Meel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Arlon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gierle the free kick. Bernt Van Meel kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Nicolaas Verheecke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johny Van Halbeeck having to interfere. Matijs Van Clijnenbreugel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
