After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Casper Schellekens managed to get in a good position for a shot. KVSK Kasteelheide's supporters rose to their feet, but Casper Schellekens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Timmy Kindermans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romain Kempenaers in the 36th minute of play. Casper Schellekens was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 38th minute. KVSK Kasteelheide's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Yoeri De Baere recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 48 minutes, Romain Kempenaers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rutten's supporters crossed their fingers, but Romain Kempenaers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Rutten's Romain Kempenaers got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Rutten booed when KVSK Kasteelheide was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stephen Nys didn't get a good kick on the ball. Timmy Kindermans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romain Kempenaers, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. If Yoeri De Baere had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 71 minutes, Rudy Marrant made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Rutten's Dyllan Ceustermans tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 87th match minute, Rutten was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorn Van Eede to maneuver through the defense. Piet Gilis took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 88th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dyllan Ceustermans. Rutten's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dyllan Ceustermans didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rudy Marrant went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. If Rudy Marrant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jorn Van Eede hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. Rudy Marrant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The KVSK Kasteelheide fans cheered their team off the field, for while Rutten had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
