The audience was convinced that Antoine Roeckeloos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jochen Streels was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. With an all-out effort, KVSK Merksem's Jochen Streels threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Antoine Roeckeloos, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Antoine Roeckeloos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jochen Streels read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. When KVSK Merksem's Antoine Roeckeloos in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After some careless play in the Schiplaken defense, Vince Jenken kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jochen Streels. The Schiplaken fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jochen Streels should have stopped the shot. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Antoine Roeckeloos made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Andy Van de cauter notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Schiplaken's Jochen Streels. Jochen Streels was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jochen Streels made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antoine Roeckeloos in the 58th minute of play. In the 82nd minute Andy Van de cauter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jochen Streels saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jochen Streels stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antoine Roeckeloos's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute.
