After a defensive mix-up in Merlemont's zone, Alex Deman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stanny Valckenaers came out of the goal and Alex Deman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alex Deman got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 1-0 in the right cross in the 8th match minute before Stanny Valckenaers had time to react. After having played for 13 minutes, Alex Deman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Doggen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alex Deman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 16 minutes into the match, Edward Van Vyve had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Charles-Louis Bruyninckx. FC Doggen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edward Van Vyve was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Hugo Netels fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles-Louis Bruyninckx having to interfere. In the 22ndth minute of the game Edward Van Vyve who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Doggen's Charles-Louis Bruyninckx was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Merlemont's goal looked a bit too open when Yannik Lambrechs came free, but Stanny Valckenaers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stanny Valckenaers was a little too slow when Yannik Lambrechs got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 29th minute. The score was now 2-1. Merlemont's Stanny Valckenaers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yannik Lambrechs in the 34th minute of play. In the 37th minute, Jerome Van Beylen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th minute of the game, Ralf Lambrechts landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edward Van Vyve in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Charles-Louis Bruyninckx saved FC Doggen from getting behind. If Hugo Netels had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

With a little luck, FC Doggen's Charles-Louis Bruyninckx got control of the ball when Wart Castermans tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 59th match minute, Merlemont was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boudewijn Verelst to maneuver through the defense. Niels Roels took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 61st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Stanny Valckenaers. Merlemont's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Edward Van Vyve, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 64 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Charles-Louis Bruyninckx was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Edward Van Vyve's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Charles-Louis Bruyninckx was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. Edward Van Vyve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hugo Netels who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Charles-Louis Bruyninckx when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Merlemont booed when FC Doggen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lex Van Turnhout didn't get a good kick on the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Edward Van Vyve had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Charles-Louis Bruyninckx. Stanny Valckenaers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Deman in the 87th minute of play. Hugo Netels fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Charles-Louis Bruyninckx having to interfere. After a rather tough play, FC Doggen's Lex Van Turnhout got a free kick in the 91st minute. Edward Van Vyve received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Charles-Louis Bruyninckx tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
