The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Laurent Bellinkx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stephan Maerschalk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christer Lindkvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kent Maeijnarts struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Stephan Maerschalk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KOSC Wijgmaal. Stephan Maerschalk didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 18th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. KOSC Wijgmaal's Kajetan Zalipski got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michael Sens in the 27th minute of play forced KOSC Wijgmaal's goalkeeper Leo Decremer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Natan De Kelper received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Leo Decremer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Michael Sens struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Leo Decremer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KAA Hondseind. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Christer Lindkvist managed to get in a good position for a shot. KOSC Wijgmaal's supporters rose to their feet, but Christer Lindkvist was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephan Maerschalk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roben Uijterhove's late challenge caught a KAA Hondseind's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roben Uijterhove helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of KAA Hondseind booed when KOSC Wijgmaal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roben Uijterhove didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kajetan Zalipski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When KOSC Wijgmaal's Christer Lindkvist in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye KAA Hondseind's goalie prevented a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Michael Sens made the kick off in the second half. Gilbert Dresik fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephan Maerschalk having to interfere. Christer Lindkvist might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Stephan Maerschalk. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Christer Lindkvist ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Christer Lindkvist in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stephan Maerschalk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of KOSC Wijgmaal booed when KAA Hondseind was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timmy Langendonck didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Christer Lindkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the KAA Hondseind defense, Christer Lindkvist kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stephan Maerschalk. The KAA Hondseind fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stephan Maerschalk should have stopped the shot. Roben Uijterhove took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 66th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Stephan Maerschalk. KAA Hondseind's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. KOSC Wijgmaal's Christer Lindkvist got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Stephan Maerschalk came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by KOSC Wijgmaal's Kent Maeijnarts. But to his dismay, Kent Maeijnarts quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Stephan Maerschalk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christer Lindkvist in the 75th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jonathan De Wilde during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of KAA Hondseind booed when KOSC Wijgmaal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan De Wilde didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stephan Maerschalk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Christer Lindkvist's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. Gilbert Dresik received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Stephan Maerschalk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 87 played minutes KAA Hondseind got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinand Coryn. Stephan Maerschalk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christer Lindkvist in the 95th minute of play. There was no doubt that KOSC Wijgmaal were the better team. KOSC Wijgmaal's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
