The fc aalst fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. fc aalst's Mathias Van den Panhuyzen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tibo De Vadder in the 14th minute of play. Werner Smeyers came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by fc aalst's Niculae Petrescu. But to his dismay, Niculae Petrescu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. The audience was convinced that Berten Descamps's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Werner Smeyers was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. In the 22ndth minute of the game Niculae Petrescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gijzelbrechtegem's Werner Smeyers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Werner Smeyers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gencho Boradzhiev in the 26th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Gijzelbrechtegem's zone, Berten Descamps stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Werner Smeyers came out of the goal and Berten Descamps tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 34 minutes into the match, Gijzelbrechtegem's goal looked a bit too open when Berten Descamps came free, but Werner Smeyers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. fc aalst's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ward Van Parijs in the 39th minute. Paulus De Cerpel tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Werner Smeyers. An unnecessary self made goal, 0-4 in the 40th minute. In the 43rd minute, Lieven Claevers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Werner Smeyers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gencho Boradzhiev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The wind increased when Loui Vanden Driessche made the kick off in the second half. Mathias Van den Panhuyzen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Loui Vanden Driessche in the 51st minute of play. 53 minutes into the match, fc aalst's goal looked a bit too open when Mickael De Meesemaeckere came free, but Mathias Van den Panhuyzen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Gijzelbrechtegem's Werner Smeyers got control of the ball when Gencho Boradzhiev tried to sneak it across the goal line.
