The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Mathias-Alexander Van Hooveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 10 minutes, Guillaume Demeulemeester mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Racing Dragons and the Itegem players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Itegem booed when Racing Dragons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillaume Demeulemeester didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute, Luuk Vloebergh sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Racing Dragons's Gert-Jan Vrankx didn't even have to move. In the 14th minute, Mathias-Alexander Van Hooveldt reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gert-Jan Vrankx. The goal made the score 1-0. Piet Van Der Meeren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Laureys having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Itegem's goal looked a bit too open when Piet Van Der Meeren came free, but Dante Laureys reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sam De Hoef hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. If Mathias-Alexander Van Hooveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Natan Roelandts in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gert-Jan Vrankx prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dante Laureys made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claus Van Acker in the 44th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Itegem's goal looked a bit too open when Piet Van Der Meeren came free, but Dante Laureys reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Claus Van Acker stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gert-Jan Vrankx stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Natan Roelandts's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. If Claus Van Acker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. During the 58th minute of the match Guillaume Demeulemeester completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Guillaume Demeulemeester a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Guillaume Demeulemeester hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Racing Dragons defense, Mathias-Alexander Van Hooveldt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gert-Jan Vrankx. The Racing Dragons fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gert-Jan Vrankx should have stopped the shot. Racing Dragons's Gert-Jan Vrankx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mathias-Alexander Van Hooveldt in the 71st minute of play. After 72nd play minutes Natan Roelandts shot 3-1, a short shot which went by Gert-Jan Vrankx and just under the crossbar into goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Natan Roelandts in the 78th minute of play forced Racing Dragons's goalkeeper Gert-Jan Vrankx to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roger Van Crickinghe's late challenge caught a Itegem's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roger Van Crickinghe helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Itegem booed when Racing Dragons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roger Van Crickinghe didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Natan Roelandts in the 83rd minute of play forced Racing Dragons's goalkeeper Gert-Jan Vrankx to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gert-Jan Vrankx didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Natan Roelandts went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. Mathias-Alexander Van Hooveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gert-Jan Vrankx having to interfere. In the 93rd minute Mathias-Alexander Van Hooveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gert-Jan Vrankx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Natan Roelandts might have been able to make a better finish in the 99th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gert-Jan Vrankx. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Natan Roelandts ran back to his position shaking his head. Itegem's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
