Evert-Jan Algoedt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maurus Tilemans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Evert-Jan Algoedt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giovanny Vergouwen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Evert-Jan Algoedt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurus Tilemans in the 11th minute of play. Giovanny Vergouwen charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Giovanny Vergouwen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Sassenhout booed when KFC Ardooie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giovanny Vergouwen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in KFC Ardooie's zone, Senne Paaps stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luke van Eycken came out of the goal and Senne Paaps tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stefan Raemakers who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 16thth minute tested the skills of Luke van Eycken when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 18th minute, Senne Paaps reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Luke van Eycken. The goal made the score 1-1. KFC Ardooie were furious when Karl Van Adorp was red carded, 22 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. When the match had been going on for 23 minutes, Sassenhout's Richmond Schrijns got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Luke van Eycken. After a rather tough play, KFC Ardooie's Maurus Tilemans got a free kick in the 27th minute. Stefan Raemakers kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 32ndth minute. Though ot was a great shot KFC Ardooie's keeper Luke van Eycken was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Senne Paaps in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luke van Eycken saved KFC Ardooie from getting behind. When Robben Ackermans fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KFC Ardooie's protests and gave Robben Ackermans a yellow card for diving instead. When Pierre Breugelmans fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KFC Ardooie's protests and gave Pierre Breugelmans a yellow card for diving instead. After 42 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for KFC Ardooie! When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Giovanny Vergouwen to make the kick off. Evert-Jan Algoedt made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Giovanny Vergouwen sent off a good shot on target. When Sassenhout's Stefan Raemakers in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye KFC Ardooie's goalie prevented a goal. In the 61st minute, Stefan Raemakers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Evert-Jan Algoedt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jeremey Beetens went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. 87 minutes into the match, Senne Paaps notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of KFC Ardooie's Luke van Eycken. Luke van Eycken was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 90 minutes into the match, KFC Ardooie's goal looked a bit too open when Senne Paaps came free, but Luke van Eycken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 90th minute, Senne Paaps left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sassenhout fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-2. When Giovanny Vergouwen came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the KFC Ardooie fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Giovanny Vergouwen couldn't finish the play. Gabriel Cockaerts kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Sassenhout were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of KFC Ardooie for a fine match.
