Ferdinand Schipmans's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Frederic Roosendael firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ferdinand Schipmans might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Frederic Roosendael. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ferdinand Schipmans ran back to his position shaking his head. If Ludo Schoutens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frederic Roosendael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ludo Schoutens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. AFC Meerbeek's Ferdinand Schipmans got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frederic Roosendael showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ludo Schoutens, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Ferdinand Schipmans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Roosendael having to interfere. After some careless play in the AFC Meerbeek defense, Terry Vischkens kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christiaan Jonckers. The AFC Meerbeek fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christiaan Jonckers should have stopped the shot. 37 minutes into the game, Buggenhout's Jef van haeve nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Christiaan Jonckers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Terry Vischkens's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Christiaan Jonckers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Reinaert Thielens kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Ferdinand Schipmans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Roosendael having to interfere. The AFC Meerbeek players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Buggenhout were winning 0-2.

In the 55th minute Ludo Schoutens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frederic Roosendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ferdinand Schipmans recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ludo Schoutens scored 1-2 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Frederic Roosendael, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Buggenhout's goalkeeper Frederic Roosendael, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jef van haeve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Jef van haeve managed to get in a good position for a shot. Buggenhout's supporters rose to their feet, but Jef van haeve was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christiaan Jonckers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. AFC Meerbeek's Ferdinand Schipmans got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. AFC Meerbeek's Christiaan Jonckers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save AFC Meerbeek from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in AFC Meerbeek's zone, Reinaert Thielens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christiaan Jonckers came out of the goal and Reinaert Thielens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Christiaan Jonckers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Terry Vischkens, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Ferdinand Schipmans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frederic Roosendael having to interfere. If Ferdinand Schipmans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frederic Roosendael showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kent Snyers in the 94th minute of the match. When Reinaert Thielens was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 95 minutes had been played. In the 96th match minute, Buggenhout was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinaert Thielens to maneuver through the defense. AFC Meerbeek's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Thommy Van Craen in the 99th minute. The corner led AFC Meerbeek's Thommy Van Craen to fire away a dangerous shot which Frederic Roosendael despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The Buggenhout supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Buggenhout would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
