The referee ignored AFC Richmond's protests and gave Tommy den Pelsmaeker a yellow card for diving instead. Tommy den Pelsmaeker hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. If Dieter Rix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th minute Christoph Verstuyft shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexander Vloeberghs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 19 minutes, Boudewijn Beets mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Elzestraat and the AFC Richmond players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 19th match minute, Elzestraat was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boudewijn Beets to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Christoph Verstuyft managed to get in a good position for a shot. Christoph Verstuyft fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexander Vloeberghs having to interfere. Alexander Vloeberghs had great luck who in the 32ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Christoph Verstuyft from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Christoph Verstuyft struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Alexander Vloeberghs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFC Richmond. Artuur Breugelmanss short, quick shot in the 34thth minute got Alexander Vloeberghs to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Christoph Verstuyft recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Artuur Breugelmans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. The referee gave Tommy den Pelsmaeker a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 46th minute, Tommy den Pelsmaeker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

Elzestraat's Dean Van Acht got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 52nd match minute, AFC Richmond was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rene Heremans to maneuver through the defense. 55 minutes into the game, Christoph Verstuyft was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AFC Richmond's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Elzestraat the free kick. The supporters of Elzestraat booed when AFC Richmond was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christoph Verstuyft didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Artuur Breugelmans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alexander Vloeberghs showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Artuur Breugelmans, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Alexander Vloeberghs didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Artuur Breugelmans went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Artuur Breugelmans recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Artuur Breugelmans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 85th minute, Arnaud Aerts got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. AFC Richmond had played much better football throughout.
