With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olivier Hoeybroeck prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Karl Van Hemel got free with Yoeri Lanen in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Team invaSion's Olivier Hoeybroeck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Ottevaere in the 8th minute of play. The supporters of Team invaSion booed when The Doors United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Loid Kerkhofs didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute, Loid Kerkhofs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Karl Van Hemel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd minute, Evert Van Glabeeke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Rudi Schepmans kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Yoeri Lanen. That made the score 1-0 in the 24 minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Rudi Schepmans managed to get in a good position for a shot. Team invaSion's supporters rose to their feet, but Rudi Schepmans was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yoeri Lanen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 33 minutes into the match, Team invaSion's Karl Van Hemel sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Yoeri Lanen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rudi Schepmans might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Yoeri Lanen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 46th minute, The Doors United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Karl Van Hemel fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jullian Hoeybroeck was the one to do the kick off. Jeff Brabant's late challenge caught a The Doors United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jeff Brabant helped the player get up and apologised. After 53 played minutes Team invaSion got a freekick which was hit by Jeff Brabant. Jaques Van den Bergen, 54 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The Doors United's Evert Van Glabeeke got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Karl Van Hemel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yoeri Lanen having to interfere. The Doors United were furious when Jaques Van den Bergen was red carded, 66 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 65 minutes into the game, one of The Doors United:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Team invaSion a penalty, 68 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jan-Joost Demets, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of The Doors United's Yoeri Lanen. 2-0. If Jorge Ottevaere had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Karl Van Hemel struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Yoeri Lanen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Team invaSion. 78 minutes had been played when some careless play by The Doors United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jan-Joost Demets was slow to take the kick. During this time Team invaSion's players had a chance to rest. Rudi Schepmans spun around in front of the goal 81 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of The Doors United's goal. Rene Hendrickx charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rene Hendrickx the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 82nd match minute, The Doors United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rene Hendrickx to maneuver through the defense. Jorge Ottevaere received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Olivier Hoeybroeck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Rudi Schepmans came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Team invaSion fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rudi Schepmans couldn't finish the play. Karl Van Hemel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yoeri Lanen having to interfere. After having played for 91 minutes, Jorge Ottevaere managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Doors United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorge Ottevaere was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Karl Van Hemel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
