Spectators: 7511 (Terracing: 5634, Seating: 1727, VIP seats: 150) KFC Elene's Carl De Mulder started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bartjan De Vadder charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bartjan De Vadder the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, KFC Elene's Bartjan De Vadder got a free kick in the 4th minute. If Denis Stuycken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 10th minute, Bartjan De Vadder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olivier Helsen in the 15th minute of play forced KFC Elene's goalkeeper Geordy Rogiers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to KFC Elene getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Julius Vercammen hit a great ball. Olivier Helsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Geordy Rogiers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olivier Helsen in the 21st minute of play forced KFC Elene's goalkeeper Geordy Rogiers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. RSC Anderlecht's Tjorven Wenderickx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carl De Mulder in the 22nd minute of play. In the 27th minute Jeroen Paschiers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geordy Rogiers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 29 minutes, Olivier Helsen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RSC Anderlecht's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olivier Helsen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Denis Stuycken in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Geordy Rogiers saved KFC Elene from getting behind. Geordy Rogiers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olivier Helsen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tjorven Wenderickx made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl De Mulder in the 35th minute of play. Geordy Rogiers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Stuycken, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Carl De Mulder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. KFC Elene's Brent Van Kamp got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nestor Van der Weijden hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. If Carl De Mulder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Brent Van Kamp came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the KFC Elene fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brent Van Kamp couldn't finish the play.

The supporters of KFC Elene booed when RSC Anderlecht was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yanniek Gramet didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olivier Helsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tjorven Wenderickx showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brent Van Kamp, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Carl De Mulder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tjorven Wenderickx having to interfere. 86 minutes into the match, RSC Anderlecht's goal looked a bit too open when Carl De Mulder came free, but Tjorven Wenderickx reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lorenz De Meyer kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Olivier Helsen scored 0-1 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Geordy Rogiers, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
