The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Maxim-Alexander De Clerk was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Maxim-Alexander De Clerk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tuur Hally, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Diederik Pelegrims hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Will Wyfliets struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Maxim-Alexander De Clerk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KVC Berchem. In the 24th minute Will Wyfliets shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maxim-Alexander De Clerk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee ignored R.Standard Liège's protests and gave Lorenzo Van Leemputten a yellow card for diving instead. Maxim-Alexander De Clerk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Will Wyfliets's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daan Van den Driesch to strike the kick off in the second half. Emanuel Loozen kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Emile Isemborgh took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Maxim-Alexander De Clerk. Maxim-Alexander De Clerk dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. After a defensive mix-up in R.Standard Liège's zone, Will Wyfliets stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maxim-Alexander De Clerk came out of the goal and Will Wyfliets tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The corner led KVC Berchem's Tuur Hally to fire away a dangerous shot which Maxim-Alexander De Clerk despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jannes Delamenin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daan Van den Driesch in the 71st minute of play. Will Wyfliets who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 73rdth minute tested the skills of Maxim-Alexander De Clerk when he managed to save the team from getting behind. KVC Berchem's Jannes Delamenin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Loozen in the 75th minute of play. In the 76th minute, Cesar Eli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Tuur Hally came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the KVC Berchem fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tuur Hally couldn't finish the play. A collision led to R.Standard Liège getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Emanuel Loozen hit a great ball. 89 minutes into the match, R.Standard Liège's goal looked a bit too open when Emile Isemborgh came free, but Maxim-Alexander De Clerk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Daan Van den Driesch came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the R.Standard Liège fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daan Van den Driesch couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle sounded KVC Berchem left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than R.Standard Liège.
