The referee ignored F.C Roeselare's protests and gave Carel Van Linthoudt a yellow card for diving instead. Carel Van Linthoudt hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Reinard Van Cleijnenbruegel struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Ivan Hemelaers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melsele. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Arno Ghesels managed to get in a good position for a shot. F.C Roeselare's supporters rose to their feet, but Arno Ghesels was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alain Maeijnarts breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Melsele defense, Wannes Delen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alain Maeijnarts. The Melsele fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alain Maeijnarts should have stopped the shot. Melsele's Alain Maeijnarts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arno Ghesels in the 76th minute of play.
