Cedrik Candries could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Senne Smits made a huge save. After 8 played minutes AFC Zemst got a freekick which was hit by Wesly Cempenaers. 9 minutes into the match, AFC Zemst's goal looked a bit too open when Reinard Van Cleijnenbruegel came free, but Senne Smits reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Senne Smits took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reinard Van Cleijnenbruegel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th match minute, AFC Zemst was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dyllen de Pelsmaeker to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the match, AFC Zemst's goal looked a bit too open when Reinard Van Cleijnenbruegel came free, but Senne Smits reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alain Maeijnarts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joost Van der Weijden, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Cedrik Candries could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Senne Smits made a huge save. Cedrik Candries received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Senne Smits tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 53 minutes AFC Zemst's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gill Vandekerkhove who took care of the corner kick. Gill Vandekerkhove made a great header on Melsele's corner, it was just that AFC Zemst's Senne Smits managed to reach the ball for a save. 56 minutes into the match, AFC Zemst's goal looked a bit too open when Cedrik Candries came free, but Senne Smits reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Cedrik Candries came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Melsele fans jumped to their feet. Brecht Sannen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 72 minutes into the match, AFC Zemst's goal looked a bit too open when Cedrik Candries came free, but Senne Smits reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cedrik Candries had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 79 played minutes AFC Zemst got a freekick which was hit by Wayne Ablij. Wayne Ablij hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Gill Vandekerkhove's late challenge caught a AFC Zemst's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gill Vandekerkhove helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Melsele's Gill Vandekerkhove got a free kick in the 89th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cedrik Candries in the 91st minute of play forced AFC Zemst's goalkeeper Senne Smits to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92ndth minute of the game Cedrik Candries who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AFC Zemst's Senne Smits was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 94 minutes, Cedrik Candries managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melsele's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cedrik Candries was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Although Melsele had been in control for most of the match, AFC Zemst still came away with the win.
