Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Melsele's Reinard Van Cleijnenbruegel started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ramon Asselberghs hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. The supporters of Velde booed when Melsele was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Van Clijnebreugel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alain Maeijnarts took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jesse Winnepennincx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute Jesse Winnepennincx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alain Maeijnarts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Velde's zone, Cedrik Candries stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas-Jan Tilemans came out of the goal and Cedrik Candries tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jesse Winnepennincx received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Alain Maeijnarts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alain Maeijnarts made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jesse Winnepennincx in the 24th minute of play. Simon Lefebre struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Alain Maeijnarts didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Velde. Alain Maeijnarts made an important save on a dangerous shot by Simon Lefebre in the 34th minute. After 39 played minutes Melsele got a freekick which was hit by Jannick Van Cruchten. Alain Maeijnarts didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 43rd minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jesse Winnepennincx made a kick off. Simon Lefebre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alain Maeijnarts took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simon Lefebre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Simon Lefebre got in the 67th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Alain Maeijnarts handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Cedrik Candries got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Jesse Winnepennincx came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Velde fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jesse Winnepennincx couldn't finish the play. If Simon Lefebre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jesse Winnepennincx sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Simon Lefebre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alain Maeijnarts having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Melsele's goal looked a bit too open when Jesse Winnepennincx came free, but Alain Maeijnarts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Cedrik Candries came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Melsele fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cedrik Candries couldn't finish the play. Thomas-Jan Tilemans was out of position in the 87 minute of play, and Reinard Van Cleijnenbruegel capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Reinard Van Cleijnenbruegel really showed his touch with that goal: 3-1. In the 92nd minute Reinard Van Cleijnenbruegel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas-Jan Tilemans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jesse Winnepennincx fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alain Maeijnarts having to interfere. Alain Maeijnarts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Lefebre in the 95th minute of the match. Jannick Van Cruchten was shown his second yellow card after 96 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 97th minute, Jannick Van Cruchten hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Simon Lefebre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
