Spectators: 6741 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1741, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Cedric Vuerinckx kicked off to start the match. SPM FRONT's Erik-Jan Van Linthoud played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathan Reynaerts in the 3rd minute of play. After 7 minutes, Nils De Neuter mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Excelsior Mullem and the SPM FRONT players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of SPM FRONT booed when Excelsior Mullem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nils De Neuter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jamie De Ceijser could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Roel Van Leemputte made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cedric Vuerinckx in the 11th minute of play forced SPM FRONT's goalkeeper Erik-Jan Van Linthoud to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 13 minutes into the game, Jonathan Reynaerts cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Erik-Jan Van Linthoud was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Erik-Jan Van Linthoud came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Excelsior Mullem's Jonathan Reynaerts. But to his dismay, Jonathan Reynaerts quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Jonathan Reynaerts put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Erik-Jan Van Linthoud. Mickael Owerckx sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jamie De Ceijser's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 32ndth minute, Roel Van Leemputte skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Excelsior Mullem's Cedric Vuerinckx got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Cedric Vuerinckx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erik-Jan Van Linthoud took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cedric Vuerinckx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mickael Owerckx to make the kick off. Erik-Jan Van Linthoud showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonathan Reynaerts in the 53rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Excelsior Mullem's Cedric Vuerinckx got a free kick in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Jonathan Reynaerts managed to get in a good position for a shot. Excelsior Mullem's supporters rose to their feet, but Jonathan Reynaerts was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erik-Jan Van Linthoud breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roel Van Leemputte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jamie De Ceijser in the 57th minute of play. Cedric Vuerinckx's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 62ndth minute, Erik-Jan Van Linthoud skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 67th minute Jonathan Reynaerts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik-Jan Van Linthoud saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Excelsior Mullem fans' excitement grew in the 70th match minute when Excelsior Mullem's Jonathan Reynaerts looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 73 minutes into the match, SPM FRONT's goalkeeper Erik-Jan Van Linthoud had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cedric Vuerinckx. A collision led to SPM FRONT getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Mickael Owerckx hit a great ball. In the 77th minute, Cedric Vuerinckx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SPM FRONT's Erik-Jan Van Linthoud proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save SPM FRONT from getting a goal against them. In the 95th minute, Mickael Owerckx made a precise shot to the right of Roel Van Leemputte. Excelsior Mullem's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-6. Excelsior Mullem's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
