After a defensive mix-up in Westmalle's zone, Jacq Leenpoels stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geert Stuckens came out of the goal and Jacq Leenpoels tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Henk Wolfs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Geert Stuckens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ief Rockeloos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richy Gijselinkx having to interfere. Geert Stuckens made an important save on a dangerous shot by Henk Wolfs in the 33rd minute. 34 minutes into the game, Jacq Leenpoels recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Geert Stuckens. Jacq Leenpoels showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Henk Wolfs took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Geert Stuckens. Geert Stuckens dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jacq Leenpoels stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes, Bartjan Vrints mouthed his way into the referee's book. When Ief Rockeloos came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Westmalle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ief Rockeloos couldn't finish the play. Terheide's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henk Wolfs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 91 minutes into the match, Westmalle's goal looked a bit too open when Henk Wolfs came free, but Geert Stuckens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Terheide's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
