Loid Callens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claus Timmermans, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. The supporters of Comblain-au-Pont booed when FC Nieuwpoort was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conrad Leclerq didn't get a good kick on the ball. Loid Callens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claus Timmermans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The attack was good, but when Claus Timmermans in the 15th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 16 minutes into the game, Cederique Waegemans was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Nieuwpoort's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Comblain-au-Pont the free kick. Loid Callens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claus Timmermans in the 18th minute of play. In the 18th match minute, FC Nieuwpoort was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conrad Leclerq to maneuver through the defense. Comblain-au-Pont's Thommy Cornelis got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Comblain-au-Pont's Claus Timmermans in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Nieuwpoort's goalie prevented a goal. Thommy Cornelis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claus Timmermans in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Loid Callens prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 36th minute, Claus Timmermans got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Claus Timmermans blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Loid Callens having to make a save. Claus Timmermans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Loid Callens having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Claus Timmermans's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Loid Callens was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. Dimitry Marrant charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dimitry Marrant the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Loid Callens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claus Timmermans in the 47th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Claus Timmermans stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Claus Timmermans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Loid Callens having to interfere. The Comblain-au-Pont fans' excitement grew in the 59th match minute when Comblain-au-Pont's Thommy Cornelis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. FC Nieuwpoort's Loid Callens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save FC Nieuwpoort from getting a goal against them. In the 67th minute, Freek Schoenmaekers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Comblain-au-Pont's Charles-Antoine Pelsers got a free kick in the 68th minute. Mike De Reijck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom De Wortelaers having to interfere. If Thommy Cornelis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC Nieuwpoort's zone, Thommy Cornelis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Loid Callens came out of the goal and Thommy Cornelis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With his leg Loid Callens managed to avoid a goal in the 78thth minute, when Comblain-au-Pont's Thommy Cornelis fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thommy Cornelis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Loid Callens having to make a save. Claus Timmermans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Loid Callens having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, FC Nieuwpoort's goal looked a bit too open when Claus Timmermans came free, but Loid Callens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thommy Cornelis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claus Timmermans in the 90th minute of play forced FC Nieuwpoort's goalkeeper Loid Callens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Comblain-au-Pont's Charles-Antoine Pelsers slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Loid Callens. That made the score 0-2 after 93 minutes of play.
