After 11 minutes of play, Comblain-au-Pont's Thommy Cornelis made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gunther Hulsen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Wart Visch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom De Wortelaers having to interfere. Claus Timmermans blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gunther Hulsen having to make a save. Gunther Hulsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claus Timmermans, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Gunther Hulsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thommy Cornelis in the 34th minute of play. After some careless play in the Comblain-au-Pont defense, Wart Visch kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tom De Wortelaers. The Comblain-au-Pont fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tom De Wortelaers should have stopped the shot. In the 41st minute Claus Timmermans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gunther Hulsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thommy Cornelis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gunther Hulsen having to interfere. The supporters of Comblain-au-Pont booed when FC Assenede was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robbin Van den Gans didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gunther Hulsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thommy Cornelis, who was totally free with the ball in the 49th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After a rather tough play, FC Assenede's Dominic Vollens got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Tibo Matthieu kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. In the 63rd minute Claus Timmermans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gunther Hulsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tom De Wortelaers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilbert Uijterhove, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 68 minutes into the game, FC Assenede's Gilbert Uijterhove nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tom De Wortelaers made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After a rather tough play, FC Assenede's Robbin Van den Gans got a free kick in the 73rd minute. If Gilbert Uijterhove had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thommy Cornelis struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Gunther Hulsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Comblain-au-Pont. Gunther Hulsen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Claus Timmermans's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Wart Visch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom De Wortelaers having to interfere. After 85 minutes of play, FC Assenede's Gilbert Uijterhove made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net.
