Spectators: 7516 (Terracing: 5638, Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. In the 22nd minute Gilbert Uijterhove shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Loid Callens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Nieuwpoort's Loid Callens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wart Visch in the 26th minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Freek Schoenmaekers couldn't finish the play. In the 29th match minute, FC Assenede was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wart Visch to maneuver through the defense. Mike De Reijck who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Gunther Hulsen when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 32 played minutes FC Assenede got a freekick which was hit by Dominic Vollens. When Freek Schoenmaekers came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the FC Nieuwpoort fans jumped to their feet. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilbert Uijterhove in the 38th minute of play forced FC Nieuwpoort's goalkeeper Loid Callens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wart Visch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Loid Callens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wart Visch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Loid Callens having to interfere. If Gilbert Uijterhove had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, FC Nieuwpoort's Conrad Leclerq got a free kick in the 68th minute. 69 minutes into the match, FC Assenede's Gilbert Uijterhove sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Loid Callens narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilbert Uijterhove in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Loid Callens saved FC Nieuwpoort from getting behind. Wart Visch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Loid Callens made a huge save. After 78 played minutes FC Nieuwpoort got a freekick which was hit by Conrad Leclerq. Robbin Van den Gans charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Robbin Van den Gans the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Nieuwpoort booed when FC Assenede was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robbin Van den Gans didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilbert Uijterhove in the 85th minute of play forced FC Nieuwpoort's goalkeeper Loid Callens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Loid Callens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilbert Uijterhove in the 90th minute of play. Gilbert Uijterhove fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Loid Callens having to interfere. FC Assenede were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing FC Nieuwpoort to leave the ground with a draw.
