Bert Hemeleers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Camiel Haeselaers, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 10th minute, Rafael Ceulemans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 12th match minute, Herbesthal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jens Huijbreghts to maneuver through the defense. Levi De Munck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lode Nijs having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Levi De Munck put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Lode Nijs. Yoeri Van der Perren blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lode Nijs having to make a save. KFC Galifort's Levi De Munck got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to KFC Galifort getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Remi Van Hoeijveldt hit a great ball. Bert Hemeleers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Loui Aelemans in the 29th minute. The audience was convinced that Charles Standaerts's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bert Hemeleers was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. 39 minutes into the match, KFC Galifort's goalkeeper Bert Hemeleers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Loui Aelemans. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Camiel Haeselaers made a kick off. Lode Nijs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yoeri Van der Perren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Levi De Munck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lode Nijs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yoeri Van der Perren in the 63rd minute of play. After 65 minutes, Benny Leyman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Herbesthal and the KFC Galifort players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lode Nijs was a little too slow when Yoeri Van der Perren got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 0-2. 80 minutes into the game, one of KFC Galifort:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 92nd minute, Rafael Ceulemans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yoeri Van der Perren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 100th minute. Lode Nijs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched KFC Galifort eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
