Christiaan Walder blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Youri Oelaerts having to make a save. Abrikoos's Thibau Verheijt got his second yellow card of the match in the 16th minute. The referee ordered Thibau Verheijt off the ground. After 17 played minutes Abrikoos got a freekick which was hit by Thibau Verheijt. From a short distance, SC Montzen's Christiaan Walder, in the 20th minute, tried to place the ball behind Youri Oelaerts, but the ball hit the right post on the wrong side and went out. 22 minutes into the match, Abrikoos's goal looked a bit too open when Christiaan Walder came free, but Youri Oelaerts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bryan Dekens's late challenge caught a SC Montzen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bryan Dekens helped the player get up and apologised. Bryan Dekens kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Gust Romboutss short, quick shot in the 28thth minute got Youri Oelaerts to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in Abrikoos's zone, Christiaan Walder stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Youri Oelaerts came out of the goal and Christiaan Walder tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Christiaan Walder in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Youri Oelaerts saved Abrikoos from getting behind. Youri Oelaerts made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christiaan Walder in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Christiaan Walder to make the kick off. SC Montzen's Antonio Vermeulen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save SC Montzen from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, SC Montzen's Guillaume Tombuer got a free kick in the 83rd minute.
