The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, K.K.A. Gent's Vince Huyghebaert got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Ernest Martens charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ernest Martens the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Guust Verheijd recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 9th match minute, K.K.A. Gent was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theo Van Laer to maneuver through the defense. Paul-Louis Michiels showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guust Verheijd in the 10th minute of the match. S52 Wonder Team's Niki Van de cauter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frederic Huygens in the 14th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Frederic Huygens made a precise shot to the right of Niki Van de cauter. S52 Wonder Team's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind S52 Wonder Team's goalkeeper Niki Van de cauter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 21st minute, S52 Wonder Team's Guust Verheijd dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. S52 Wonder Team's Garry Verbeeck got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to K.K.A. Gent getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Vince Huyghebaert hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guust Verheijd in the 29th minute of play forced K.K.A. Gent's goalkeeper Paul-Louis Michiels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Yoachim Van Laer's late challenge caught a K.K.A. Gent's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Yoachim Van Laer helped the player get up and apologised. In the 30th match minute, S52 Wonder Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yoachim Van Laer to maneuver through the defense. In the 34th minute, Diederik Vanden Berghe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paul-Louis Michiels made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Garry Verbeeck sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Garry Verbeeck managed to get in a good position for a shot. S52 Wonder Team's supporters rose to their feet, but Garry Verbeeck was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paul-Louis Michiels breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 45 minutes into the game, Theo Van Laer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. K.K.A. Gent's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave S52 Wonder Team the free kick. In the 45th match minute, K.K.A. Niki Van de cauter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Frederic Huygens managed to get in a good position for a shot. K.K.A. The S52 Wonder Team fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. K.K.A. Gent were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
