The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Niki Van de cauter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernst Klaes in the 5th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ernest Martens during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ernest Martens kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. The referee gave S52 Wonder Team a penalty, 9 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Remco Oliviers, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Okapi aalstar's Loid De Kepper. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernst Klaes in the 13th minute of play forced S52 Wonder Team's goalkeeper Niki Van de cauter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 14 minutes into the match, S52 Wonder Team's goal looked a bit too open when Jelle Marant came free, but Niki Van de cauter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guust Verheijd's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Loid De Kepper read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Niki Van de cauter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jelle Marant, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute Ernst Klaes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niki Van de cauter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ernst Klaes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Niki Van de cauter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd minute Jelle Marant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niki Van de cauter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ernst Klaes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niki Van de cauter having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jelle Marant in the 47th minute of play forced S52 Wonder Team's goalkeeper Niki Van de cauter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jelle Marant stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ernst Klaes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Niki Van de cauter made a huge save. In the 55thth minute of the game Jelle Marant who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but S52 Wonder Team's Niki Van de cauter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Jelle Marant dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Niki Van de cauter, 1-1. Loid De Kepper showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guust Verheijd in the 63rd minute of the match. The supporters of S52 Wonder Team booed when Okapi aalstar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeffrey Van De Look didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, S52 Wonder Team's Ernest Martens got a free kick in the 76th minute. The audience was convinced that Jelle Marant's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Niki Van de cauter was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. Niki Van de cauter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jelle Marant's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Gilian De Ruyter kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Ernst Klaes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Niki Van de cauter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ernst Klaes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
