The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, FC Geenske's goal looked a bit too open when Bram Dejardin came free, but Henrik Claessens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Laurenz Van Doren in the 11th minute of play forced FC Geenske's goalkeeper Henrik Claessens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laurenz Van Doren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Henrik Claessens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Geenske's Henrik Claessens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bram Dejardin in the 19th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Baaigem's zone, Kamiel Van Acht stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jo Swinnen came out of the goal and Kamiel Van Acht tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Baaigem getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Brian Bauwens hit a great ball. Kurt De Kepper kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Rene Lauwers kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After 56 minutes, Laurenz Van Doren mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Baaigem and the FC Geenske players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Kamiel Van Acht managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Geenske's supporters rose to their feet, but Kamiel Van Acht was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jo Swinnen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kamiel Van Acht fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jo Swinnen having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Baaigem's zone, Kamiel Van Acht stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jo Swinnen came out of the goal and Kamiel Van Acht tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dominik Arnoets recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kamiel Van Acht in the 74th minute of play forced Baaigem's goalkeeper Jo Swinnen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ryan De Worteleere had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 84 minutes of play, FC Geenske's Kamiel Van Acht made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jo Swinnen was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gaetan De Meulder during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to FC Geenske getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Gaetan De Meulder hit a great ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Baaigem players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for FC Geenske.
