The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the Club Eegem defense, Mitch De Beer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jacky Mallaerts. The Club Eegem fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jacky Mallaerts should have stopped the shot. Club Eegem's Jacky Mallaerts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mitch De Beer in the 7th minute of play. In the 11th minute Glenn Geerts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacky Mallaerts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Glenn Geerts in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jacky Mallaerts saved Club Eegem from getting behind. 19 minutes into the game, Enzo Ramps cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Jacky Mallaerts was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Mathis de Neutere had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Glenn Geerts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience was convinced that Mitch De Beer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jacky Mallaerts was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. The supporters of Club Eegem booed when Erembodegem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willy Goffyn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Jacky Mallaerts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mitch De Beer in the 54th minute of the match. After 57 played minutes Erembodegem got a freekick which was hit by Gilian Van der Vloedt. Jacky Mallaerts was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Constant Bauwmans showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 62 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Erembodegem's Glenn Geerts got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Erembodegem's goalkeeper Dominic Vissenaekens, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 70 minutes into the game, Mathieu-Maxim Walters was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Eegem's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Erembodegem the free kick. After 72 played minutes Erembodegem got a freekick which was hit by Constant Bauwmans. Mitch De Beer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacky Mallaerts having to interfere. After some careless play in the Club Eegem defense, Enzo Ramps kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jacky Mallaerts. The Club Eegem fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jacky Mallaerts should have stopped the shot. Jacky Mallaerts made an important save on a dangerous shot by Glenn Geerts in the 79th minute. Mathis de Neutere's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dominic Vissenaekens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mitch De Beer in the 87th minute of play forced Club Eegem's goalkeeper Jacky Mallaerts to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jacky Mallaerts stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mitch De Beer's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. After 94 played minutes Club Eegem got a freekick which was hit by Robben Van der Perren. Erembodegem's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
