Wouter Dumont's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Daan Mertens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. Daan Mertens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Natan Raeijmaeckers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Natan Raeijmaeckers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Daan Mertens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeffery Van Hoeij could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Daan Mertens made a huge save. When Philipp Clement fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored K.F.C NIJLEN's protests and gave Philipp Clement a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FC Gerbalona booed when K.F.C NIJLEN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Philipp Clement didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Willy Cox had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Natan Raeijmaeckers came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the FC Gerbalona fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Natan Raeijmaeckers couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in K.F.C NIJLEN's zone, Wouter Dumont stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Daan Mertens came out of the goal and Wouter Dumont tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Wouter Dumont had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd minute Dries Taverniers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daan Mertens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Natan Raeijmaeckers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. K.F.C NIJLEN's defense didn't have a chance, in the 46th minute, when Dries Taverniers scored to the left of an out of position Daan Mertens, making the score, 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dries Taverniers to make the kick off. FC Gerbalona's Dimitri Vissenaeckens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save FC Gerbalona from getting a goal against them. Jeffery Van Hoeij sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Willy Cox recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match clock showed 92 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Natan Raeijmaeckers sped through K.F.C NIJLEN's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Daan Mertens. Wouter Dumont scored 4-1 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Daan Mertens, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. FC Gerbalona had played much better football throughout.
