The referee ignored Club Malle's protests and gave Arnold Peters a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 4th minute of the game. One of Club Malle:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Haringe:s goal. 8 minutes into the match, Vicente Schautens notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Club Malle's Ewout Deckers. Ewout Deckers was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dries Van Aghten stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bas Van Hespe's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Haringe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vicente Schautens was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 33rd minute Vicente Schautens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ewout Deckers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Haringe's Dries Van Aghten played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bas Van Hespe in the 37th minute of play. Octaaf Hermans charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Octaaf Hermans the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Club Malle getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Octaaf Hermans hit a great ball. With a little luck, Haringe's Dries Van Aghten got control of the ball when Edmond Nijs tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Vicente Schautens managed to get in a good position for a shot. Haringe's supporters rose to their feet, but Vicente Schautens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ewout Deckers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vicente Schautens to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vicente Schautens in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ewout Deckers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pieter-Maarten Meeuwissen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Ewout Deckers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ewout Deckers was out of position in the 59 minute of play, and Vicente Schautens capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Vicente Schautens really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. Dries Van Aghten showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmond Nijs in the 65th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the game, Edmond Nijs cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Dries Van Aghten was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ewout Deckers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vicente Schautens in the 75th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Bas Van Hespe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Malle's supporters rose to their feet, but Bas Van Hespe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dries Van Aghten breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Bas Van Hespe's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dries Van Aghten was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. Ewout Deckers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vicente Schautens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Edmond Nijs came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Club Malle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmond Nijs couldn't finish the play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
