After a rather tough play, ADO Den Haag's Maurice Verheije got a free kick in the 2nd minute. After some careless play in the ADO Den Haag defense, Sebbe Huijbrechs kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Maurice Machiels. The ADO Den Haag fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Maurice Machiels should have stopped the shot. Sebbe Huijbrechs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The attack was good, but when Bram Beets in the 10th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Maurice Machiels showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rudi Reyniers, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Sebbe Huijbrechs could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Maurice Machiels made a huge save. Gierle's Sebbe Huijbrechs got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Rudi Reyniers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 32 minutes of play, ADO Den Haag's Bram Beets made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Brecht Imberechts was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 37th minute, Sebbe Huijbrechs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th minute, Maurice Verheije got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bram Beets made a kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Gierle was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claude Hoolemans to maneuver through the defense. 53 minutes into the match, Gierle's goalkeeper Brecht Imberechts had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maurice Verheije. In the 55th minute Rudi Reyniers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maurice Machiels saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brecht Imberechts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bram Beets in the 57th minute of the match. Dominic den Ronden hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Maurice Verheije fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brecht Imberechts having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rudi Reyniers in the 61st minute of play forced ADO Den Haag's goalkeeper Maurice Machiels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maurice Machiels made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rudi Reyniers in the 68th minute of play. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gierle's goalkeeper Brecht Imberechts, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Maurice Machiels took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rudi Reyniers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rudi Reyniers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebbe Huijbrechs in the 77th minute of play forced ADO Den Haag's goalkeeper Maurice Machiels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Gierle getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Rudi Reyniers hit a great ball. In the 83rd minute Sebbe Huijbrechs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maurice Machiels saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebbe Huijbrechs in the 87th minute of play forced ADO Den Haag's goalkeeper Maurice Machiels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maurice Machiels made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rudi Reyniers in the 88th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Gierle's zone, Maurice Verheije stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brecht Imberechts came out of the goal and Maurice Verheije tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sebbe Huijbrechs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maurice Machiels showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rudi Reyniers in the 98th minute of the match. Gierle's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
