When Ludo Wegers fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sparta Waarschoot's protests and gave Ludo Wegers a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of The Jersey booed when Sparta Waarschoot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ludo Wegers didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute Guy Van Haght shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raymond Maeijnarts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. George De Fever made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Klaus Dedecker in the 27th minute of play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Diego Breugelmans was the one to do the kick off. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
